Is anyone running the Maperitive replacement of Kosmos in Windows Vista or Windows 7?

When I run it on windows xp as:

Console>Kosmos.Console.exe tileserv Tiles http://localhost/Kosmos/

(The tiles are on the ./Tiles)

I get this:

Kosmos Console v2.5.405.6 by Igor Brejc

OpenStreetMap rendering application

Starting Kosmos tile map server on ‘http://localhost/Kosmos/'... Stopped tile map server

ERROR: process can not access file because it is beeing used by other process

Any help? Thank you

The license is BSD, so yes, it can be used in commercial products, as long as you adhere to its clauses: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BSD_licenses

My guess is that you need to download the latest Docking DLL and make sure all projects reference that version.

Hi Igor! Can you help me with an advice? I have problem, when i try build your Kosmos.Gui.Controls project. The assembly 'BrekiViews.WinForms does not find the actual version of WeifenLuo.WinFormsUI.Docking.dll. I tried to use the versin of dll, what I found in your Kosmos-2.3.213.0 and Kosmos-2.4.100.0 library. The whole error message:

Thanks for the link - it does look nice. I think it won't be a big problem to produce something similar with Maperitive. BTW: Maperitive is a successor to Kosmos and it's coming out soon.

i found a pretty awesome mapping website in french called Geoportail, it takes all the contour lines and applies a color scheme to them, going from light green near sea level, dark green from 50-200 meters, wheite to beige from 200-600 and beige to dark brown from 600-5000 meters.

here is a direct link to a topography map. its better than other maps in some way because you can superimpose transparencies, and adjust their opacity … altitude, geology, monuments, satellite, map, hydrology, etc

Hi, I tried to run Kosmos and i figuered i might need an hour + to read all the instructions and make a 3d model, because i was getting errors and i had to read about the workaround.

Probably a bug . You can try opening the project file in a text editor and setting the rules URL there.

Be patient, a new SW is coming out soon.
